The BCDVI National Board and staff invite you to attend the 10th Annual This Far By Faith Leadership Institute—a multidisciplinary, national forum, designed for those committed to an appropriate response to violence against women, within faith communities.

The 2008 Institute marks the tenth year of training clergy, advocates, policy makers and activists in response to domestic violence and critical faith issues. The This Far By Faith Leadership Institute will:

  • Address the appropriate response of the faith community when Clergy batter

  • Develop a model of a culturally competent “coordinated community response team”

  • Cultivate philanthropic resources for funding violence against women initiatives

  • Engage in strategies and models for men’s intervention in male violence

  • Inform efforts to develop gender equity in leadership and response

As a national educational ministry, BCDVI supports leadership from both sacred and secular entities, provides technical assistance, promotes multidisciplinary and cross-cultural partnerships, and fosters ongoing solidarity in the collective movement to end violence against women.

Pre-Workshop Leadership Caucus
The Pre-workshop Caucus will assist leaders in the development of culturally competent coordinated community response teams that incorporate the faith community.  This session will provide technical assistance and training to support a local, regional and national vision. Participants for the pre-workshop will be leaders within the collective movement to end violence against women.  (Lunch is included. Space is limited).

Plenary
Plenary sessions are both didactic and experiential.  Throughout the Institute, participants are encouraged to explore a class analysis of domestic violence and social location.  Additionally, training topics will engage participants in creating systems of accountability within communities of faith and developing effective roles for male leadership in ending violence against women.
